Complex Surgery

As Australian-qualified Specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons we are often called upon to collaborate with other surgical specialties to help reconstruct complex defects and return patients to functional pain-free lives.

The “defects” are often following surgery for cancer such as after breast cancer or head and neck cancer surgery. Often free tissue transfer (free flap) surgery is required which combines microsurgical & reconstructive expertise.

Plastic Surgeons Dr Sean Nicklin, Dr Sarah Tolerton & Dr Marc Langbart truly enjoy this sort of surgery as it requires collaboration with other surgical colleagues, working with and training registrars and helping patients achieve good outcomes following complex cancer or trauma surgery.

The areas in which we become involved with other specialities include Breast Reconstruction, Head & Neck Reconstruction, Upper & Lower Limb Reconstruction & Amputee Reconstruction including Targeted Muscle Reinnervation (TMR) & Osseointegration.
